Leonard Barry's new recording "Littoral" shows remarkable depth and good taste. This is real Irish piping from a master in his prime, with sympathetic backing by an equally qualified group of noted traditional musicians. The pipes-flute-fiddle front line rides above the accompaniment which compliments his effective use of the drones and regulators. It's also a nice snapshot of the current trad scene in Sligo where Barry currently resides. (Tim O'Brien)
